Investing in yourself is one of the most profitable investments one could possibly make. By focusing on your needs and wants first and foremost, you’re allowing yourself to become better in all aspects of your life. Take the time to establish goals that make you happy — forget about what makes anyone else happy, and I promise the profit will come in due time. You deserve to be selfish when it comes to creating a happy and fulfilling life. The biggest mistake most people make especially when they’re young, is to put the needs of others first. Your twenties and thirties are the times when prioritizing yourself paves the way for strong, lasting relationships in the long run. Here’s a list of 7 simple things you can do to ensure you’re investing in yourself on a daily basis:
1. Forget about what people think
Who cares? No really, who cares what anyone else says or thinks? If you’re doing what makes you happy and proud, then the opinion of others is irrelevant. Often we get caught up on what people think, especially when it comes time to put yourself out there. Blogging is a great example of this. Social media is the prime source of marketing for blog content, and it’s important to show off all of your hard work to your family and friends on social media. If someone has a problem with that, they must not have your best interest in mind.
2. Ditch toxic relationships
If unhappiness outweighs the happiness in a friendship or relationship, it has to go. It’s tough to come to this conclusion, and it takes a ton of evaluation in some cases, especially when you’ve just become comfortable with discomfort, but it’s absolutely necessary in order to put your happiness first and achieve your goals.
3. Journal Daily
Journalling allows you to reflect on your day, including what you did that day to get closer to your goals and aspirations. It is an easy way to sort out your thoughts, rather than letting them sit on your mind.
4. Take care of your health
I definitely have yet to master this, however, I’m aware that investing in your health is extremely profitable. At the end of the day what you put in your body is what you get out of it. Therefore, if you put junk in, you’ll get junk out.
5. Educate yourself
Whether it is through Ted Talks, Podcasts, a college diploma, real estate course, or university degree, educating yourself is the best way to keep your mind sharp while staying informed.
6. Start everyday with a positive attitude
Its amazing what positivity can do when it comes to fast tracking towards your aspirations. This world is filled with negative people and intentions and its important to do your best to avoid letting the negativity get to you. Focus on yourself, and if others feed off of negativity, let it be their business.
7. Allow yourself 5 minutes to freak out
Sometimes we get overwhelmed, after all, we’re human. Take five minutes to sort out your thoughts, and find a method that works for you in terms of calming your nerves, then get back to kicking butt!
